-- parties serve movement, not movement serves parties --
Brief Overview of USA Greens at the National Level
Green Parties connect like the web-of-life in over 80 countries. Each party represents different ideas, but all agree on the importance of ecology. In the USA, Greens generally agree that the Ten Key Values give guidance to their thoughts and actions.
The Association of State Green Parties (ASGP) reflects a wide-diversity of state Green Parties. It is also the creator of the Green platform endorsed by Ralph Nader. The various states within the US have their own parties, and in some cases Greens vigorously work at the city and county levels. Besides these, a number of Green organizations have also developed in the US, each following their own particular principles, all understanding ecology's central place in humanity's future. Greens also know that one day bioregional parties will replace geographic abstractions like cities, counties, and state parties.
Regarding "left" and "right" politics, the majority of Greens seem to approach politics by focusing on ecology, sustainability, self-reliance, non-violence, and other values (see Ten Key Values).
