Ecology Guides Green Thought

Ecology, the Greens' common denominator, shows that life connects in many ways and that humans need to live ecologically. To live ecologically, Greens think that humans need to live sustainable lives democratically and peacefully. Living so will also help to ensure that species-populationssurvive for the long-term (10,000 years +).

To spread democracy, peace, and sustainableliving everywhere, Greens practice Green Politics. Green Politics are holistic. This means to think of the totality of connections between nature, societies, and individuals.

In a nutshell, Greens realize that there are many connections (known and unknown) between nature, societies, and individuals. So we must ensure that we think and act ecologically by being kind to the Earth and its inhabitants, including one another. In this way, all Greens are environmentalists; however, not all environmentalists are Greens.

Environmentalists work to "fine-tune" societies as they exist; Greens "fine-tune" and work to create Green societies parallel (next) to the dominant societies.

"In Green politics, we practice tenderness in relations with others; in caring for ideas, art, language, and culture; and in cherishing and protecting the Earth. To think Green is to build solidarity with those working for social justice and human rights everywhere, not bound by ideologies." Petra Kelly

From the above, one sees that the Green agenda calls for teaching future generations these ideas for the benefit of societies and nonhuman nature.
